KELSO hotel Ednam House has announced its support for local cancer patient support charity the Lavender Touch.

Over the next 12 months, Ednam will be running a series of fundraising projects.

These will include donating a percentage of each ticket sold for the Northumbrian Music Festival tour, use of the facilities at Ednam House, and a Lavender planted flower bed.

In addition to fundraising efforts for the charity, Ednam will also offer free use of a room every week to benefit a cancer patient.

The aim is that the Kelso location will minimise transport times as patients usually have to travel to the Borders General Hospital to receive their treatment.

Alex Moffat from the Lavender Touch told us: “We are delighted that Ednam House has offered their support. Every year there are people who are touched by cancer, whether they are a patient, or a friend or family member of a patient.

“We work tirelessly throughout the Scottish Borders offering care and support wherever we can, but this really wouldn’t be possible without the help of our volunteers, supporters and fundraising events.

"We are extremely grateful for all of the help we receive, which allows us to continue to provide this much needed and essential service.”

The Lavender Touch funds a team of qualified therapists who work as part of a holistic care team for cancer patients in the Borders.

They have worked with NHS Scotland since 2003 and provide a range of treatments, including reflexology, massage and aromatherapy.

Lothian Lavender have agreed to donate a number of Hidcote lavender plants to the Ednam garden.

The lavender will be planted in a round flower bed situated at the entrance of the hotel.

Margaret Livingstone Evans, General Manager at Ednam House said: “Ednam is very proud to be supporting The Lavender Touch and its crucial work.

"They offer incredibly effective treatments to local cancer sufferers that help make them more comfortable during, what is always, a very difficult time. "To maintain the current service level for local people living with cancer, they need to raise £40,000 every year, and we are very happy to be playing our part in helping them to continue this vital work.

“Everyone has been touched by cancer in some way, so we are very keen to do everything we can to help The Lavender Touch continue to expand its work across the Scottish Borders.”
