THE Kelso Ram Sales returned to Springwood Park, home of the Border Union Agricultural Society, on Friday.
This internationally-renowned event has been held in the town since 1838 and continues to be the country’s premier sale of rams.
With sales in 15 rings and across 20 breed sections, the gathering was again received with enthusiasm by consignors and buyers and generated a buzz in the farming community across the United Kingdom.
Top lamb prices:
- £25,000 – J Douglas, Woodhead Of Cairness, Clola, Registered Suffolk
- £4,200 – S Buckley, Sittinglow, Sitlow, Registered Suffolk
- £2,800 – Mr J Pirie, Blanavaid, Blarnavaid, Registered Bluefaced Leicester
Top shearling prices:
- £36,000 – Mr Andrew J. Clark, Blackhill Farm, Teiglum, Registered Texel
- £22,000 – Messrs J Wight & Sons, Midlock, Registered Texel
- £16,000 – Proctors Farm Ltd, Tathamhall Farm, Registered Texel
