A NEW seven-unit industrial site is to be created in an area of “prime quality agricultural land” in the Borders.
Scottish Borders Council (SBC) has given the green light for the conversion and sub-division of a currently vacant larger industrial unit at Old Station Yard on Duns Industrial Estate.
The development will utilise the existing accesses from the public roads.
The parking provision would not change and 40 parking spaces would continue to be provided.
In his report approving the application, Cameron Kirk, SBC assistant planning officer, says: “There are residential properties within close proximity to the application site. The existing building was used most recently for general industry.
“The smaller units would continue to be used for general industry. It is anticipated that they would create a degree of noise. Nonetheless, it is not expected that the proposed development would have any greater impact upon nearby residential properties than the existing industrial building.
“Overall, it is not expected that the proposed development would unduly impact on the amenity and privacy of neighbouring residential properties.”
