FAIRYDEAN Rovers manager Steven Noble admits he’s delighted to have one of Scotland’s best young goalkeepers for the rest of the year.

Rangers have sent teenager Kieran Wright out on loan to the Lowland League club until the New Year.

The 17-year-old, who is a regular in the Scotland age-group squads, will combine his Gala duties with midweek matches for the Ibrox club’s Under 20s team.

Noble said: “Kieran is an excellent prospect for Rangers and we are delighted to have such a talented keeper joining us for the rest of the year.

“We already have a very good goalkeeper in Jamie Newman, but we have spoken to both Jamie and Kieran and they will both get game time as the season goes on.

“I am very fortunate to now have two keepers of such quality at the club.”

Wright, who lives in the North Lanarkshire town of Stepps, trained at Netherdale last week.

And he sat on the bench during Gala’s defeat on Saturday.

Kieran told us: “This will give me good experience before going back to play for the Under 20s and maybe even getting in the first team at Rangers.

“As soon as I was asked I couldn’t wait to get started. The Lowland League is new to me but the standard seems pretty good and I’m going to enjoy it.

“They like to play good football down here at Gala and the facilities are excellent.”

Wright is the third player to arrive at Netherdale this season on a development loan deal.

Centre half Kevin Waugh and midfielder Adam Watson are both on season-long spells at the club from Hibs.
